Initial history is unknown, although there are suggestions that it may have bee one of a batch of cars owned by CiBiEmme / BMW Italy.

Purchased in early 1998 by Kim Esbjug as a replacement for 96/004 which had damaged in the opening round of the 1998 Swedish Touring Car Championship. Esbjug drove this car in the remainder of the 1998 season, and again in 1999.

Following the end of the 1999 season, the car was put in storage and untouched until mid-2018 when the car was run in the Norwegian Racing NM series.
