Original built in 1996 by Ray Mallock Ltd (RML) for the British Touring Car Championship programme.

Over the winter of 1996 it became the third of three cars to be taken over by Triple Eight Race Engineering and extensively re-engineered, gaining a new chassis number in the process.

Believed to have been used as the team's spare car for the 1997 British Touring Car Championship
