History
Early history is unconfirmed altough believed to have been run by Bigazzi in the 1993 Campionato Italiano Superturismo, and possibly at the FIA Touring Car Challenge the same year.Sold to BMW Motorsport Australia and raced by Paul Morris in the early part of the 1994 Australian Class II Championship, before switching to E36/A 052 93. At the Winton the car was involved in the now infamous coming to together between Morris and team-mate Tony Longhurst.
Used as the spare car at the 1994 Bathurst 1000, and would have been the race car had E36/CL2 0109 94 not arrived in time.
Sold to Dennis Chapman in Nov 1994, and run in the Nissan-Mobil 500 series, including the final ever Wellington street race.
Chapman continued to run the car in a number of New Zealand club and endurance races over the years, although did make trips back to Australia, notably for the 1995 Australian Grand Prix support races and for the 1997 and 1998 Bathurst 1000 where he shared with Brian Bradshaw.
