Claimed to be Shaun van der Linde's 1994 South African Touring Car Championship winning car, and also used in the latter part of the 1995 series when his '95 car was destroyed at Zwartkops, however there is some doubt over this.

Believed to have been originally used in the 1993 South African Touring Car Championship, driven by Tony Viana for the first half of the season before being replaced by Geoff Goddard.

The car would be driven by Shaun van der Linde for the opening two rounds of in 1994 before he switched to a '94 spec car, after which it's believed the car was driven by Marco dos Santos for the remainder of the year and by Steve Wyndham for one round in 1995

The car was retained by BMW South Africa for promotional purposes until eventually being acquired by Shaun van der Linde for his own collection in 2005. In mid-2014 when it was sold and shipped to the UK. Sold to a German buyer in 2019.
